Monsters - ooh scary!

One of my favorite designers is MaryFran from Nitwit Designs. You can see the pumpkin from my last blog was reminiscent of some of her designs. Along the same lines, this wordart was inspired by her incredible work as well:

I started with just the phrase and then eventually made the Halloween bits to go in there. After that I made some monsters and created a card.

As much as I love that card, I never did put it in my shop. I might next Halloween. But I was so unsure of putting in cards that weren't customizable (ie: an invite to somewhere) that I hesitated and before I knew it - Halloween was over and I never put it up.

But I did love the monsters guys, so I made a birthday invite with them and happily put that up in my store (you don't need Halloween to have a monster party, right) :D

So out of all that time spent designing -- I not only learned a lot about creating things, but I found a style. I love the cute, kiddie stuff!! Those silly monsters and little Halloween guys - I just love them. And I decided to focus on kid stuff for now.

Grand Opening

Well I hemmed & hawed (is that a word?) about opening an Etsy for the longest time. Finally - a friendly push was all it took for me to finally go for it.

I opened in October, so my first things were Halloweeny. The first thing I focused on making was a pumpkin. I wasn't sure what my style was going to be yet, so this took longer than it should have lol. In the end, I was pretty happy with it :)

My first card isn't really the style I ended up doing. But hey - it's my first card, so how can I not be a little proud lol.

So as you can see -- I put that pumpkin to good use! From there I went onto monsters for a cute Halloween card, but I'll save that for another blog entry!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! I've always been a writer at heart - loved pouring my most inner thoughts down on paper. I guess it only makes sense that in this digital age, I'd love blogging. Add my newest obsession - my Etsy store and making cards and prints (for now) ... Well I decided to make a new blog to show off what I'm working on. And maybe other stuff. Who knows!
